A journey woven in velvet and gold by Belmond's iconic trains and timeless hotels.
If the Orient Express reigns in Europe, then Peru is South America’s shimmering crown jewel—and Belmond holds the key to unlocking it in unforgettable style.
Some destinations offer views. Peru delivers an experience. It’s a country that pulses with contrast and soul: mist-draped ruins, thundering rivers, sun-splashed coastlines, and sky-high plains. And no one threads these moments together quite like Belmond, turning the journey itself into the destination.
Rio Sagrado
Miraflores Park
Rio Sagrado
We kicked off our adventure in Lima at the glamorous Miraflores Park, a chic retreat perched on a cliff, where the Pacific Ocean feels close enough to touch. Our suite on a high floor came with its own private sauna and plunge pool, an oasis in the clouds. Mornings started with a breakfast that was anything but ordinary: towering fruit platters, still-warm pastries, and à la carte dishes served with a side of sea breeze and panoramic views.
From the capital’s coast, we flew to the Sacred Valley and checked in at Rio Sagrado, a serene hideaway nestled between the Urubamba River and towering Andes. Surrounded by eucalyptus trees and grazing llamas, it’s the kind of place where time slows down. Horseback rides through the valley and a private picnic among the llamas made it all feel like a dream painted in earth tones.
Hiram Bingham

Then came the crown jewel: the Hiram Bingham train. Dressed in navy and gold, it swept us through the Sacred Valley with white-glove service, sparkling champagne, and live Andean music. A gourmet lunch, windows open to the tumbling Urubamba River, and a rhythm that lets you breathe—it’s train travel at its most seductive.
At the journey’s end stood Sanctuary Lodge, the only hotel located right at the gates of Machu Picchu. While others line up for the first shuttle, you’re already sipping tea in the garden, waiting for the mist to lift over one of the world’s most sacred sites. It’s a privilege few get to experience, and Belmond makes it seamless.
We spent two nights here, allowing us to explore the citadel at a gentler pace, hiking at sunrise, taking in the shifting light across ancient stones, and pausing to absorb the staggering beauty of the Andes all around us. There’s something almost spiritual about standing among those perfectly carved terraces and temples, high above the clouds, with the silence broken only by birdsong and the occasional whisper of the wind. It’s not just a UNESCO site, it’s a moment in time, one that stays with you long after you’ve left.

Next came Palacio Nazarenas in Cusco, a former convent turned all-suite sanctuary, where Inca walls meet modern indulgence. The courtyard pool, the frescoed suites, the hush of history in every corridor,. Everything about this place whispers timeless elegance.
Just steps away is Monasterio, Belmond’s iconic hotel where Baroque beauty meets old-world soul. One evening, we were whisked into the 16th-century chapel for a private dinner, surrounded by frescoes and serenaded by a solo violinist. Elevated, emotional, and completely unforgettable. It was one of those once-in-a-lifetime moments you want to bottle.
And for those who want to keep the adventure going, Belmond’s Andean Explorer awaits. This is South America’s first luxury sleeper train, an immersive glide through the Andes, where cozy alpaca blankets, brass-accented cabins, and a rear observatory car invite you to see Peru at its most cinematic.
You can pair it with a stop at Lake Titicaca, where floating reed islands feel like stepping onto a dream. Or continue to Arequipa, where white volcanic stone glows golden at sunset, and every square feels like a movie set.
Las Casitas

Las Casitas
Still not ready to go home? Las Casitas in the Colca Canyon is your finale, a place of soaring condors, thermal springs, and vast, silent skies. The perfect last chapter to a journey that never really ends.
Belmond doesn’t just connect Peru’s landmarks—it elevates them. With style, soul, and a touch of cinematic magic, this is travel that lingers long after the wheels stop turning.
