What You Need to Know If Traveling in the Upcoming Season

As we transition into the spring season, we are all looking forward to a little getaway. If you are wanting to plan a trip in the upcoming months here is what you need to know, including some tips and tricks on how to travel safely and with ease.

Be in the know.

Stay up to date with what countries are affected and what level they are at on the scale of Travel’s Health risk (Levels 1-3). Many countries have been updating the public daily about how they are handling the spread of the virus and what regions are safer than others. You can keep track by visiting the Centre for Disease Control and Prevention website and click on Traveler’s Health

Check airlines and cruise schedule changes.

Airlines have halted and reduced many flights to certain countries in order to stay in control of what passengers travel where. Cruise lines have released their own safety regulations regarding how they’re handling the outbreak and are trying to avoid any further incidents dealing with isolation and quarantine. For future cruise plans, its best to contact your cruise line or travel advisor directly with any questions or concerns. All cruise lines that have canceled cruises in the upcoming month are offering affected guests the option to receive a full refund.

Prepare yourself for any upcoming trips by…

  • Getting the flu shot
  • Keep your distance from people who are visibly sick
  • Try to avoid handshakes and touching public surfaces
  • Stock up now with zinc lozenges. These lozenges have been proven to be effective in blocking coronavirus (and most other viruses) from multiplying in your throat and nasopharynx.
  • Skip the face mask (paper surgical masks only protect other people against your germs. They don’t offer you protection from anyone else.)
  • Don’t touch your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands
  • Wash your hands with soap for 10-20 seconds
  • Pack an alcohol-based hand sanitizer (Make sure it has at least 60 percent alcohol content, an amount that can neutralize germs.)
  • Use a disinfectant to wipe down your tray-table and armrest while flying

Educate yourself on what you should have on your travel insurance checklist.

  • Trip cancellation benefits
  • Travel insurance policies
  • Medical coverage
  • Company insurance policies (traveling on business)
  • Coverage for epidemics and pandemics
  • How much to save for emergency medical expenses
